D & D Engineering has taken delivery of the first of XYZ Machine Tools’ large capacity vertical machining centres

62302-XYZ-DD EngineeringD & D Engineering (Hull) is first taker for XYZ Machine Tools’ large capacity vertical machining centre range. The supplied XYZ 2010 VMC has X, Y and Z axes travels of 2,000, 1,000 and 800 mm, respectively, and features a 36 hp/8,000 rpm/min spindle and a 30-position toolchanger capable of handling tools weighing up to 15 kg, 220 mm diameter and 300 mm in length. The machine, with a maximum table load of 3,000 kg, will be used by D & D Engineering (Hull) across a wide variety of work for customers in the food, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), medical, agricultural, defence, and offshore sectors.

The XYZ 2010 VMC delivered to D & D Engineering (Hull) is the smallest in this new range, in fact, with the two larger machines being the XYZ 2510 and 3010 VMC; the larger of which weighs 25 tonne and has X-axis travel of 3,000 mm. The mid-range machine features an X-axis of 2,500 mm, but both have 1,000 mm of travel in the Y-axis and 800 mm in the Z-axis.Control is provided by the Siemens Sinumerik 828D CNC unit with ShopMill conversational software. This also has supports download of data from CADCAM systems via USB, CF-card, or Ethernet, making it suitable for a wide variety of customers whose programming may vary.

As with all XYZ CNC machines, these large VMCs come with three days training at one of XYZ’s regional showrooms, which can be broken into two sessions of two initial days training followed by a further day once the customer has become more familiar with the machine. A 12-month no-quibble warranty is also included, which can be extended for an additional six years with XYZ’s extended warranty and service packages.
