In the aptly-titled keynote, ‘Change!’, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence President and CEO Norbert Hanke explained the reasoning behind the company’s rebrand, highlighting the changing customer needs in industrial manufacturing and exploring how new technologies can help meet these requirements. Addressing a record audience at the AsiaWorld-Expo centre on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island, Norbert Hanke outlined how the company intends to expand its offering into new areas of manufacturing and connect products to provide more integrated software-centric solutions. He also emphasised the need to continue hardware research and development innovations.
“As I said in the keynote, we are here to help customers make things right the first time, the ten-thousandth time, every time,” said Norbert Hanke. “It’s all about gathering data and analysing them to get actionable information within the manufacturing process. The reception from our customers here in Hong Kong has been incredible – they have embraced our message and we’ve had some great dialogue on how we can move forward and build the future of manufacturing together.

Following the keynote, the Metrology/Manufacturing track continued with a range of breakout sessions focusing on six critical industry segments and detailed technical seminars on software and general metrology topics. On Thursday afternoon, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence’s Vice President of Business Development, Paolo Guglielmini, hosted the headline Automation and Industry 4.0 Summit. This deep-dive session, featuring an invited panel of industry experts including Detlef Zuehlke of SmartFactoryKL, ended with a lively bilingual panel discussion with local customers.
