With the preliminary remark of an Italian market in which a general quite difficult and diversified situation still seems to prevail, from region to region but, sometimes, also inside the same industrial district, the sensation is anyway a more concrete confidence in the future. This is confirmed also by Giovanni Baccolini, Sales Area Manager of Yamazaki Mazak Italia, according to whom the market (even with great prudence) seems to react in more and more concrete manner, and he confirms: «Despite a diffused instability, today optimism seems to prevail, coupled with the companies’ will of strongly consolidating their positions on the market, driven also by a higher productivity». What are the most “sparkling sectors”? Baccolini underlines that good signs come for Mazak in absolutely transversal manner, embracing both the sheet metal sector and the machine tool field, core business of the Japanese giant. «The result – adds – therefore results also for our Italian branch in a 2013 closing with growing numbers, thus generating a cautious optimism for the current year and for the next one».

What are instead the most recent range novelties, also considering that, in terms of sales, Fiber technology is getting over/overcoming CO2 technology? In spite of that, Mazak has operated by highly focusing on the evolution of the technology in CO2, making it more and more competitive and performing. «Higher competitiveness – he underlines – thanks to lower management costs and adequate performances, at the same time granting the utmost machining flexibility. We should consider that with our Optiplex laser CO2, our customers can process different sheet metal thickness, from thin to thick. But not only made of iron mild steel and stainless steel but also of aluminium and brass, partially reflecting materials whose processings are possible with the fiber machines». Among the most representative machines of this technology, stands out for instance Optiplex 4020 II CO2 with 4 kW, developed in a new version to grant even lower peak and stand-by energy consumptions, in comparison with the previous models. The same is also provided with a very interesting energy saving function, named Eco-mode. Without forgetting the reduced use of laser gas and of air, respectively inferior by 50% and by 43%, still in comparison with the previous machine version. More in detail, the new Optiplex 4020 II CO2 with 4 kW is equipped with X/Y/Z axes of 4,075/2,060/110 mm and it allows the processing of workpieces with maximum sizes of 2,000 x 4,000 mm. The process is carried out with rapid speeds on all the axes that can reach 120 m/min, with positioning accuracy of ±0.05/500 mm (on the X and Y axes) and ±0.01/100 mm (Z axis). The standard equipment provides then for the new Cnc Mazatrol Preview 3 control with touch-screen, equipped with smart monitoring functions aimed at making the man-machine interface increasingly rapid and user-friendly. «But most of all – adds Baccolini – I would like to point out the smart functions implemented in the new CNC that allow reduced setup times down to 88%, considering the replacement of the nozzle, the centering, the adjustment of the focal point and the calibration. An operational added value that grants the productive continuity and reliability even if the machine was is integrated into an automated loading / unloading system and / or stocker.

Provided with advanced performances for increased productivity, it is characterized by X/Y/Z axes of 3,100/1,580/100 mm and it allows processing parts with maximum sizes of 1,525 x 3,050 mm. The process is carried out with a rapid traverse rate on the X and Y axes of 120 m/min (60 m/min on the Z axis), with positioning accuracy of ± 0.05/500 mm (on the X and Y axes) and ± 0.01/100 mm (Z axis), with repeatability of ± 0.03 mm (X, Y and Z axes). «Both presented models – adds Baccolini – are manufactured on cast iron beds, just with the precise purpose of granting stability and reliability in time». Constant range widening, then, for Mazak, and will of consolidating its position in its reference sectors, keep on growing and conquering the market. In addition to 3D Fabri Gear II, the 3D laser cutting machine featuring great precision for complex shapes on tubes and structural materials of big sizes, Mazak widens its offer range also with Tube Gear 150. It is in this case a solution dedicated to the light tube, with thicknesses up to 6 mm and maximum diameters of 152.4 mm (with round or square shape). Designed and developed to assure high cutting speed at high precision, it is available in 2.5 and 4 kW versions with ergonomic design, with efficient operation and drastically reduced footprint. Ideal to be configured with a beam loader, it operates through three independent spindles to drastically reduce vibrations and to stabilize the longest tubes (which can reach 6,000 mm of maximum length).
