This is the activity carried out for over thirty years by Urma Rolls, company established in Turin in 1983, making autonomous a manufacturing department started by the parent company Urma in 1975.

A winning choice, which has led to the creation of a constantly growing reality equipped with high-level equipment and plants that, completed by a skilled technical division, have allowed satisfying the most different technological requirements.
A structure that currently engages over 50 employees, called to supply not only the domestic market but also numerous European, Asian and South-American Countries, for a turnover that in 2016 reached about 6 million Euros (50% of which deriving from orders beyond the borders).

“Tailor made” solutions
«The application of our diamond rolls, i.e. for the profiling and dressing of abrasive wheels – adds Giordano – addresses various sectors of the mechanical industry, from the manufacturers of grinding machines to the producers of ground components: from valves to bearings, from constant velocity joints to automotive injectors, from re-circulating ball screws to gears, from blades to aeronautical turbines, just to mention some of them».
More in detail, Urma Rolls diamond rolls can be implemented with well-defined profiles, for the dressing of abrasive wheels, whose profile will be faithfully reproduced on the workpiece, or manufactured by forming for the dressing of abrasive wheels on CNC grinding machines. Alternatively, furthermore, for the continuous grinding of gears.
Even if it is not a standard production but we are instead dealing with solutions tailor-made in co-design and in co-engineering with customers, the range of diamond rolls manufactured by the Turin company can be subdivided into 3 main executions: those for the profiling of abrasive wheels for the continuous grinding of gears, in the version called DS (with statistical disposition of the diamond fixed by metallic powder sintering) and EL (with diamond application on a preformed steel body with galvanic process); the one identified by the initials EG, where diamonds are statistically distributed on negative matrix and then fixed through galvanic process; finally the execution called SN, where diamonds are positioned manually on negative matrix and then fixed through metal powder sintering.

«In addition to the mentioned diamond rolls– further adds Giordano – our production includes also galvanic wheels with CBN application, electroplated, profiled for both the grinding of components for the mechanical and aeronautical industry, and for the grinding of the gear profile. In this specific case, I am referring to straight and helical toothing, both internal and external».
We are dealing in this case with wheels identified by EB execution, where the coating occurs through galvanic process of boron carbide crystals on base steel body manufactured with strict tolerances.

For this purpose, the company makes use of state-of-art testing equipment, with which assessing the total functionality of the implemented products, manufacturing, for each finished component, also a master reproducing the profile that will be produced in the future with the tool.
«In other words – underlines Giordano – not only 100% quality control, for each single diamond roll or wheel we manufacture but also a control and a verification performed on the piece that the customer will produce. The same undergoes all dimensional tests required as standard and results are then reported on the conformity certificate enclosed to each of our products».
Uncompromised quality characterizing a production of about 350/400 diamond rolls per month and 200/250 electroplated CBN wheels intended for outstanding brands in national and international ambit.
