Bystronic has completed the integration of its Spanish software developer Kurago into the Bystronic Software brand, marking a key milestone in providing customers with fully integrated end-to-end digital solutions. At the same time, the company has opened a new lab in the Basque Country, enhancing its digital innovation capabilities in sheet metal processing

Acquired in 2021, Kurago has played a pivotal role in driving Bystronic’s digital transformation. Now fully part of the Bystronic Software group, it enables the delivery of a comprehensive software ecosystem that digitises processes from quotation to delivery. This strengthens Bystronic’s position as a full solutions provider with deep technological insight.

Following a recent corporate reorganisation into Systems and Service Divisions, the establishment of Bystronic Software underlines the strategic importance of software development in advancing sheet metal technology. The new Bystronic Lab in Derio, near Bilbao, will bring together software experts and specialists in machinery, automation, and digital solutions to explore the transformative potential of connectivity and data. The lab, which is currently staffed by about 15 members, is expected to be fully operational by early 2026.

Domenico Iacovelli, CEO of Bystronic Group, emphasised the smooth integration and the global vision driving the fusion of advanced machinery with automation and digital tools. Alberto Martinez, Head of the Systems Division, highlighted the strategic advantage gained by expanding software development within a vibrant industrial and innovation ecosystem in the Basque region.

Bystronic continues to lead the sheet metal industry’s comprehensive digitalisation through smart networking of laser cutting systems and press brakes, leveraging innovative automation, software, and service technologies.
